I had quite a large baby shower in June of 2009. All my friends and family traveled great lengths to come celebrate my upcoming bundle's birth. I remember the day as if it was yesterday!! While we played many games, the majority of the party was spent mingling. My belly was touched and/or rubbed countless amounts of times. Generally, it bothered me when people would rub my baby bump... but on the day of my baby shower it didn't phase me. Funny how the times change given the circumstances.
I walked away from my baby shower carrying with me many fond memories. I can't wait for one of my girlfriend's to get pregnant, so that I can shower them in the same gifts and love that I received.
One of my favorite baby shower gifts was the Diaper Pail. It never was something that I noted on my gift registry. I just didn't understand the hype or it's prime use until I actually owned one. If I could recommend one must have item on your gift registry, it'd be the Arm & Hammer? Diaper Pail.

A common theme on my baby shower registry was bath essentials. I wanted bath time to be painless and fun, especially as my infant grew older. A major must have in my opinion is the Corner Bath Organizer.

My daughter used to love sitting in this tub "quacking", splashing and babbling! Those bath memories are some of my fondest.
Diaper cakes seem to be a growing way to present a new Mom with her shower gifts. A diaper cake is assembled using a bunch of rolled up diapers, stacked and assembled in a way to make it look like a multi-layered cake. The cake is decorated by ribbons and can be elaborate or as simple as the gift giver would like. I've seen diaper cakes with many simple, but important baby must-haves affixed to it. A common baby essential found on a diaper cake is a teething blanket or lovey. Both my children received a teething blanket as a newborn and to this day it continues to be their security blanket.

The teething blanket is perfect for your baby to snuggle for that extra security and comfort, as well as use for teething purposes. My children would both be lost without theirs! Their teething/security blankets go with them everywhere. If I was to buy this gift for a Momma-to-be, I'd give her 2 of them... Y'know just in case (god forbid) one day her child misplaced their lovey. I always joke that the world will end the day my children lose their security blankets! Yep, they are that attached to them and no other ones will do.
We've always been a family that enjoys our daily walks. In fact, we head out for walks multiple times a day. To the coffee shop. Yep. I'll admit it. I walk quite often to grab myself that trusty ol' cup of joe. Let's face the facts... I'm a zombie Mom. There's no denying that. Pushing a stroller while holding a hot cup of coffee is next to impossible, unless you like having hot coffee splashing all over your hands.
