Health Fair to Provide Students with Resources and Wellness ...

?

It?s important to let our students know what health services are available to them on our campus and in our community says Sue Ann Biggs, as she works to assemble the annual health fair to be presented to Hardin-Simmons University students next week. Biggs says the fair has been a campus mainstay for over 20 years.

Biggs, as university nurse, says her goal is to offer students education on general good health and wellness, as well as arm students with some of the resources they can call on in times of need.?

Organizations planning to participate in the event include those from both inside the university and in the community. Alliance for Women and Children, Abilene Regional Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Big Country AIDS Resources, Noah Project, Pregnancy Resources of Abilene, and Serenity House are some of the community organizations that will set up booths on the campus next week.

But there are a number of resources already on the campus students can depend on. Those include the campus Family Psychology Center, the HSU Fitness Center in the Mabee Athletic Complex, HSU Physical Therapy, HSU Sports Medicine, and HSU Student Health Services. The cafeteria and dining services, ARAMARK, will also be on hand to talk about healthy food choices available.

Biggs says this will also be a good opportunity to students to receive flu shots and as extra incentive to attend, students will have the opportunity to win gift cards from Target and Walmart.
